Choosing between them
Recognition by the Higher Education Commission is the baseline for any programme here. Beyond that, this field has no single statutory accreditor, so compare institutions on faculty qualifications, facilities and graduate outcomes.
Every institution on this list is in the private sector. Fees are therefore set institutionally rather than against a government scale and vary substantially between them, so ask for the complete per-semester cost across the full degree rather than the first instalment. There is no public-sector option in this city for this field — if lower fees matter more than location, it is worth comparing against public universities in a nearby city.
Applying
Undergraduate admission is normally based on HSSC or an equivalent qualification plus the entry test the institution uses, and public-sector seats carry a domicile component — where your domicile certificate was issued affects which quota you compete under. Requirements and closing dates change every cycle, so treat each institution’s own admissions page as authoritative.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many universities in Lahore offer english and literature?
We have catalogued 5 so far, listed above with sector and links. That is our coverage as of August 2026 rather than a complete count: we are still working through institutional programme lists, so the real number of universities in Lahore teaching english and literature is higher. They are listed above with sector and links to their official admissions pages.
Which is the best university in Lahore for english and literature?
There is no single answer, and any site claiming one is guessing. Compare on the things that differ materially: whether the specific programme holds the accreditation its field requires, the fee structure across the full degree rather than the first instalment, and the entry route each institution uses. This page gives you the shortlist to compare; the decision depends on your marks, budget and domicile.
Are these universities recognised by HEC?
Yes — every institution listed here appears in the Higher Education Commission's register of recognised universities. Recognition is institutional, though: individual programmes in regulated fields need separate accreditation from their professional council, which is worth confirming for the exact programme you apply to.
