B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) is an undergraduate degree in commerce and accounting — covering financial accounting, business law, taxation, economics and business practice. It is one of the longest-established business qualifications in Pakistan.

What You’ll Study

Coursework covers financial and cost accounting, auditing, business and company law, taxation, business economics, banking and finance, business statistics, and business communication.

Career Scope in Pakistan

B.Com is closely associated with professional accountancy: many graduates pursue ACCA, ICAP’s CA, or CMA alongside or after the degree, and it is a conventional feeder into those qualifications. Graduates work in accounting and bookkeeping roles, audit firms, banking operations, taxation and compliance, and finance functions across industry.

An honest observation on positioning: a four-year BS in Accounting and Finance or a BBA is often better regarded by larger employers and multinational firms than a traditional B.Com, and the professional qualification tends to matter more than the degree in accountancy hiring. B.Com works best when treated as a route toward ACCA or CA rather than as a terminal qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is B.Com still worth doing in Pakistan?

It works best as a route toward a professional qualification like ACCA, CA or CMA rather than as a terminal degree. For direct employment with larger firms, a four-year BS in Accounting and Finance or a BBA is often better regarded.
