BS Nursing is a four-year undergraduate degree preparing registered nurses — combining clinical nursing practice with the sciences underpinning it and substantial supervised hospital training.
What You’ll Study
Coursework covers anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of nursing, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, paediatric and maternal health nursing, mental health nursing, pharmacology, nursing research and leadership, with extensive clinical rotations.
Career Scope in Pakistan
Registration with the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council is required to practise, and programmes must be Council-recognised for graduates to qualify — verify a specific programme’s recognition status before enrolling, as this determines whether the degree leads to registration at all.
Demand is genuine and persistent. Pakistan has a documented shortage of qualified nurses relative to population, and private hospital expansion has increased it further. Graduates work in hospital clinical nursing across specialities, community and public health nursing, nursing education, hospital administration and quality roles, and increasingly specialised areas such as critical care and operating theatre nursing.
Nursing qualifications are also among the more internationally portable Pakistani health credentials, subject to the destination country’s licensing examinations.
Admission Requirements
Intermediate (FSc/ICS or equivalent) with the relevant subjects, plus the admission test used by the university. Check each university’s admissions page for the current cycle.
