DPT

DPT is a professional degree, five years, leading to registration with the relevant statutory council before independent practice.

Entry requirements

Admission is controlled by the relevant statutory council rather than by institutions acting alone. For medicine and dentistry this means the national MDCAT under Pakistan Medical and Dental Council rules, together with the PMDC eligibility floor in HSSC or an equivalent qualification.

Accreditation

This field has no single statutory accreditor in the way engineering, medicine and law do. Institutional recognition by the Higher Education Commission is the baseline; beyond that, judge programmes on faculty qualifications, facilities and graduate outcomes, and ask the institution directly about each.

What it leads to

Professional degrees of this kind lead directly to a regulated occupation, with statutory registration required before independent practice. The house job or equivalent supervised period after graduation is part of the route to registration rather than optional.

Comparing institutions

Fees for the same degree title vary several-fold between Pakistani institutions, and course content varies with them.
