BS Industrial Chemistry is a four-year undergraduate degree applying chemistry to industrial production — process chemistry, quality control, formulation and the chemistry underlying manufacturing at scale. It is more applied than a general chemistry degree and more chemistry-focused than chemical engineering.

What You’ll Study

Coursework covers organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry, industrial processes and unit operations, instrumental analysis, quality control and assurance, polymer and materials chemistry, and industrial safety and environmental compliance.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Graduates work in quality control and assurance across pharmaceutical, chemical, fertiliser, paint, soap and detergent, food and beverage manufacturing, in production and process support, product formulation and development, and analytical and testing laboratories.

Analytical instrumentation competence — HPLC, GC, spectroscopy — is directly hireable and often the deciding factor in QC recruitment. Pakistan’s pharmaceutical and consumer goods manufacturing base makes quality control a steady, regulated source of employment, since testing is a compliance requirement rather than optional.

Admission Requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between industrial chemistry and chemical engineering?

Industrial chemistry focuses on the chemistry itself applied to production — formulation, analysis and quality control. Chemical engineering focuses on designing and operating the processes and plant that manufacture at scale, with more engineering and less laboratory chemistry.

What jobs do industrial chemistry graduates get?

Quality control and assurance in pharmaceutical, chemical, fertiliser, paint, detergent and food manufacturing, plus production support, product formulation and analytical testing laboratories. Instrumentation skills such as HPLC and GC are directly hireable.
