B.Tech Computer Engineering Technology is a four-year applied degree covering computer hardware, networks, embedded devices and system deployment and support. It is oriented toward implementation and operation rather than design.

Engineering Technology vs. Engineering

This distinction is the most important thing to understand before enrolling. A Bachelor of Engineering Technology is a four-year applied degree oriented toward implementation, operation, maintenance and testing, whereas a BSc/BS engineering degree is oriented toward design and analysis with heavier mathematics and theory. The two are treated differently by the Pakistan Engineering Council, and registration pathways differ — engineering technology graduates are generally registered separately from engineers, where registration applies at all. Confirm the current position with PEC and the university before choosing between them, since it affects which professional roles are open to you.

What You’ll Study

Coursework combines the technical fundamentals of the discipline with heavy practical, laboratory and workshop content, plus applied project work. The emphasis throughout is on being able to do the work rather than derive the theory behind it.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Graduates work in IT infrastructure and systems support, network installation and administration, hardware maintenance and repair, embedded and IoT device support, and technical support roles across industry.

Worth noting: network and systems support roles exist in essentially every organisation running IT infrastructure, which makes this among the more broadly employable applied qualifications.

Admission Requirements

FSc Pre-Engineering or an equivalent qualification, plus the engineering entrance test used by the university. Merit combines intermediate results with test performance.
