BS Public Health is a four-year undergraduate degree focused on the health of populations rather than individual patients — disease prevention, health promotion, epidemiology and health systems.

What You’ll Study

Coursework covers epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health promotion and behaviour, health policy and management, nutrition, communicable and non-communicable disease control, and research methods.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Pakistan’s public health challenges are substantial and well documented — communicable disease burden, immunisation coverage, maternal and child health, malnutrition and stunting, and emerging non-communicable disease. Donor investment in health programming is correspondingly large.

Graduates work in public health programmes at NGOs and donor organisations, government health departments and disease control programmes, monitoring and evaluation in health projects, health data and surveillance, hospital quality and infection control, and health communication. Epidemiology and biostatistics capability is what distinguishes candidates for analytical and programme design roles from general field positions.

Admission Requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between public health and medicine?

Medicine treats individual patients; public health works on the health of whole populations — prevention, epidemiology, health systems and policy. Public health does not involve clinical practice and does not require a medical degree.
