BS Computer Network and Security

BS Computer Network and Security is a four-year undergraduate degree combining computer networking with network defence — designing, operating and securing the infrastructure that carries organisational traffic.

What You’ll Study

Coursework covers networking fundamentals and protocols, routing and switching, network design and architecture, network security and firewalls, intrusion detection and monitoring, cryptography basics, wireless and cloud networking, and network administration, with heavy lab content.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Every organisation running a network needs people to design, operate and defend it. Graduates work in network engineering and administration, network security engineering, security operations centre roles, ISP and telecom network operations, infrastructure roles in enterprises, and managed service providers.

Vendor certifications are particularly influential in this field — CCNA and progressively CCNP for networking, alongside security certifications — and employers frequently screen on them. The combination of networking depth and security capability is practical and directly hireable, and network fundamentals remain valuable even as infrastructure moves to cloud, since cloud networking is still networking.

Computing degrees in Pakistan should hold National Computing Education Accreditation Council recognition, and engineering degrees Pakistan Engineering Council accreditation. Newer and more specialised programmes do not always carry it yet, so verify the accreditation status of the exact programme before enrolling.

Admission Requirements
