BS Cyber Security

BS Cyber Security is a four-year undergraduate degree focused on defending systems, networks and data against attack: network and system security, cryptography, ethical hacking, digital forensics and security governance. It is a comparatively new degree in Pakistan, created because general computer science programs were not producing enough specialists to meet demand.

What You’ll Study

HEC’s curriculum sets at least 133 credit hours over eight semesters. Alongside computing fundamentals such as programming, data structures, operating systems and networks, coursework covers cryptography, network and web security, penetration testing and ethical hacking, digital forensics and incident response, secure software development, and security policy and compliance. Most programs include substantial hands-on lab work, which matters more here than in most disciplines, because security is a practical skill.

Career Scope and Salary in Pakistan

Banks, telecom operators, government bodies and IT companies have all been building dedicated security teams. Roles include security analyst and SOC analyst, penetration tester, security engineer, digital forensics analyst, and governance, risk and compliance work.

Admission Requirements

Intermediate (FSc/ICS) or A Levels with the relevant subjects, plus the admission test used by the university concerned. HEC’s baseline is 50% marks with Mathematics; students without Mathematics can be admitted if they complete six credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses.
