Admissions

Engineering admission normally combines HSSC (pre-engineering) results with an entry test — the provincial ECAT in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, or an institution’s own test elsewhere. The decisive check is Pakistan Engineering Council accreditation: PEC accredits a specific programme at a specific campus, so a degree title that is accredited at one institution may not be at another. Graduating from a non-accredited engineering programme prevents PEC registration, which is required to practise as an engineer. Ask Kohat University of Science and Technology for the PEC accreditation status of the exact programme and campus you are applying to. As a public-sector institution, fees are generally lower than at private institutions, and merit competition is correspondingly higher.

Admission Dates

Program Last Date Entry Test Status Apply
KUST Graduate Admissions 2026 (MPhil, MS & PhD) Entry tests: first test 21 July 2026 (apply by 17 July, result 24 July); second test 11 Aug 2026 (apply by 7 Aug, result 13 Aug). Candidate list before interview 21 Aug 2026. Interviews 25–26 Aug 2026. List after interview and queries 27–28 Aug 2026. Merit list 31 Aug 2026, fee submission 1–4 Sept 2026. Registration and orientation 5 Sept 2026, classes commence 8 Sept 2026. Note: KUST publishes the graduate closing date as 13 Feb 2026, which precedes the published start date of 13 July 2026. The deadline is therefore left unrecorded rather than guessed. Confirm with the university. 25/09/2026 21/07/2026 Closed
KUST Undergraduate Admissions 2026 General merit list: 21 Aug 2026. Queries addressed 25–27 Aug 2026. First merit list: 31 Aug 2026. Second merit list: 7 Sept 2026 (fee submission 8–9 Sept 2026). Classes commence 15 Sept 2026. Note: KUST's published undergraduate fee-submission window for the first merit list reads "21-04 Sept 2026", which appears to be a typographical error; the graduate calendar gives 01–04 Sept. Applying in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, entry testing for public-sector engineering and medical admission is conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA), alongside the national MDCAT for medical and dental programmes. ETEA test dates are announced provincially and often fall earlier than admission deadlines elsewhere, so applicants from other provinces should check the schedule well in advance. Because Kohat University of Science and Technology is in the public sector, seats are allocated partly on a domicile basis. Applicants holding a domicile from outside the province should check how many open-merit seats are available before applying.

HEC Recognition and Accreditation

The Higher Education Commission lists Kohat University of Science and Technology as a recognised institution. Recognition means the HEC accepts the institution as competent to award degrees, and that its degrees can be attested and treated as valid for further study and public-sector employment. Recognition is institutional, however, and does not by itself confirm that any particular programme is accredited by its professional body. For engineering programmes the operative approval is Pakistan Engineering Council accreditation of that specific programme at that specific campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kohat University of Science and Technology recognized by HEC?

Yes. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan lists Kohat University of Science and Technology as a recognised institution, which means its degrees can be attested by the HEC and are accepted for further study and public-sector employment. Recognition applies to the institution; individual programmes may additionally require accreditation from a professional council.

Is Kohat University of Science and Technology private or government?

Kohat University of Science and Technology is a public-sector institution. Public institutions generally charge lower fees than private ones because they receive government funding, and admission is correspondingly more competitive on merit.

What entry test is required for admission to Kohat University of Science and Technology?

Engineering admission normally requires an entry test — the ECAT in Punjab, an ETEA test in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, or an institutional test elsewhere — alongside HSSC pre-engineering results. Confirm the current requirement on the institution's own admissions page, since criteria and closing dates change each cycle.

Does HEC recognition mean every programme at Kohat University of Science and Technology is accredited?

No. HEC recognition confirms the institution is chartered to award degrees. Individual programmes in regulated fields need separate accreditation — the Pakistan Engineering Council for engineering, PMDC for medicine and dentistry, the Pakistan Bar Council for law, NCEAC for computing. A programme can sit inside a recognised institution without holding that professional accreditation, so check the specific programme before enrolling.
